I’m like Myq, I have to consciously stop eating something because I never have that feeling of having had enough. I ended up tracking my calories Monday-Thursday every week so I don’t need to think about food on the weekends.

Idk what to say other than triggered but the food talk triggered me. I've been dealing with feelings over food lately. And I relate to Myq heavy. I wouldn't call it ocd, more like an addiction. The feelings of shame come with it and it ends up being a cycle of eating to feel better about the eating that caused shame. I hate it.

This is the most relatable Myq has been, honestly. It took me a long time to realize how disordered I was about food and exercise. Through therapy, I realized that this will be a lifelong recovery much like someone in AA. I was surprised Myq had the Oura ring. For me, getting rid of the trackers like Apple Watch and Fitbit were a must, they definitely heightened my obsessive traits.

Food has been hard for me as well. I recently learned that part of my ADHD is impulsive eating, especially when I’m feeling depressed because my brain gets that brief hit of dopamine. And it is hard to argue with it when it is all I can think about until I get that particular food. I’ve been very hard on myself for it.

That rationalizing of working out balancing how you eat is bad territory, for several reasons, but a big one is it doesn't take much food in a very short amount of time to surpass an hour workout.
There is a truth to working out enough resulting in craving it. I started working out when I had back pain from sitting at my desk job for years. It was very hard to make it a habit, even when I found something I enjoyed. My brain was always trying to talk me out of it until I just committed to a day of the week no matter what day I had. Eventually it stopped arguing, but after a few years my brain has switched to trying to talk me into it when it's not okay. I'll be sick or hurting and my brain will go, "is it really that bad that you can't do a class?" YES. SHUT UP. I gotta be careful with cannabis for the munchies too. I need to take them close to bedtime and in bed so it's "too late". Otherwise, I will be the meat eater version of Myq... cooking a whole package of bacon to eat. |
