Bear doesn’t celebrate his birthday. no nerves, just frustration doing less than i really want to celebrate him. i love birthdays. for our elopement reception party i had eight different birthday cakes. it wasn’t my birthday, it’s just my favorite kind of cake. when my actual birthday rolls around, Bear gets the nervous poops.

Listening to Myq is like hiking up a hill and taking all kinds of detours. Then once you reach the top there is your favorite ice cream waiting for you.

I am notoriously fucking terrible at holidays, which absolutely includes birthdays. I can remember when my wife and I first got together I got her a goddamn candle warmer for christmas. Like seriously, how goddamn stupid am I?

Since then, I try to knock it out of the park every year. A couple birthdays ago, she wanted to learn how to play guitar so I bought her a custom pearl white Luna guitar. One year we went to vegas for a few days.

If I can't afford something really nice, I at the very least get a card and try to do especially nice things for her that day. Cook a nice meal, get her favorite cake, etc.

I never really celebrate my birthday or expect any gifts because that type of thing doesn't really matter to me, but I know she likes things and wants to feel special so I try to do that for her.
