3419: Twinsies w/ Myq Kaplan
Keith and Chemda discuss the most caustic Silent Trailers yet and Chemda’s scientific thoughts on bandages before Keith’s best friend Myq Kaplan joins the party. The gang talks about Keith’s persona in Myq’s stand-up, the latest in ayahuasca, relationships, the deaths of bullies, and Juneteenth. Also, it wasn’t until after the show that Keith and Chemda realized they didn’t even mention Father’s Day. Oh well. I guess be nicer, dads.

I love my father and he loved me.
He wasn’t perfect and neither am I. He was born in 1923 and was in the Royal Swedish air force during WWII. He hated Nazi’s and believed in equality for everyone. He was chauvinistic, like I said he wasn’t perfect but he didn’t believe men were better. I guess my point is not all Dads who were immigrants are old fashioned fucks. He was a bit old fashioned and a pretty good dad. |

my Dad spent Father’s Day in Tennessee with my Brother and his kid. i’m gonna visit this Sunday bc it worked for everyone’s schedule. my family’s never been beholden to day of celebrations; we’ll make a fuss whenever. buying him gifts, including a neck fan and a cool towel, i realized they were practical measures against heat stroke bc he works outside and is six months away from his SSA retirement benefits. i’m legit concerned he might die before he gets there. it feels unfair and makes me angry.

for context, other members of my family got PPE loans and spent them on a couple of Jaguars. the system isn’t meant for nor does it reward doing the right thing. the American Dream is a farce.

Im in a pretty good place with my father right now. They moved here, to out city 3 years ago.
They live about 1 km away. Our relationship improved a lot, with both of them, but especially my father. When we saw each other less often, every visit was heavy. Now we have many shorter, easy and light interactions like they come over to eat pizza for 1 hour on Sunday evening and we don’t have to talk about BIG stuff every time. He seems pretty happy. |
