I refrained from voting because I don't think either of the answer applies. I think its more that they didn't care/didn't even occur to them. In their heads it was more about money for a public appearance. They are breathing rarefied air so getting paid tons of money to just show up is nothing new. Not to mention the average American knew nothing about Gaddafi up until a month ago, why would someone so disconnected know? The person who set it is up should have had the forethought to say no to the appearance because that is what they are paid for, they sort of deserve to lose their job.

Jay was easily one of my favorite guests ever. I. Fucking. Lost it when he busted out the mental picture of him wearing overalls with one strap hanging and a B.U.M. Equipment shirt. Whisked right back to the hordes of douches at the skating rink wearing the same uniform. Interestingly, that time period was also the last time I heard people casually say "wigger." So specific.

His vocabulary was top-notch also. I wish that wasn't so unusual.

Never heard of him before the show but I've been watching Youtube videos of his standup all day. Thanks for the intro.

Way to use "slippery slope" as an actual argument, jagoff.

I liked Jay a lot as well.

The argument Keith and Chemda had about "goody-two-shoes" people and how a lot of them constantly say "we shouldn't go to war" but then have no other solution for the problem is one that has been brought up a bunch of times on the show. And I still disagree with it. As if though those people (like Jared) are disgusting human beings for having hope. Very defeatist.

I think the opposite argument is just as bad. Your immediate reaction shouldn't be "let's go kill a bunch of people" either. It's not like most of the people with that argument have a long-term solution either. They're almost always acting out to get immediate gratification. Dismissing people who have an opinion but don't have a solution is very condescending. And it's actually easier to always go for the throat rather than thinking things through.

Not saying the Occupy Wall Street movement is well organized or that a lot of the people there have cohesive ideas, but movements can take decades to get going, and it's not the place of people who aren't doing anything (myself included) to harshly judge those who are trying. You wouldn't get anything "large" accomplished ever if your viewpoint is the way it is now.

edit: I forgot to mention that I do agree with Keith about the celebrities speaking up in other countries and hanging out with their corrupt leaders. It's ridiculous that they wouldn't have done research ahead of time.

Vanessa Hessler

I took one look at that pic of Vanessa Hessler in the show pics and thought the photographer stretched out her arms in Photoshop or something, but it turns out she just has really long arms!
