I initially thought "deaf".

Then they said about no podcasts.

Solution? Learn to lip-read and get the video feed.

Based on this, I'm staying deaf. Bonus - sneaky special hand language. I can communicate with other deaf cult members across a room in complete secrecy (assuming there are no other deaf cunts in the room).

Other reason to go deaf - porn for the blind would be really weird.

While we're on the topic of the disabled, there was a contestant on an Aussie cooking show recently. She was deaf and also had blonde hair. When she was meeting the other contestants, she made a joke about not being very smart - i.e. being "deaf dumb & blonde".

I got a decent laugh out of her joke. The rest of the dickheads were super uncomfortable, there were some nervous "heh's" and then the subject was changed.

Fuck this PC society where the disabled can't mock themselves without people getting weird.

did a show a few years ago that used stories from the deaf community. we brought in a consultant and everything because we had a non-deaf actress portraying a deaf character. i get everybody's discomfort. sometimes deaf people can be dicks. they'll tell you that themselves. God forbid you don't know the difference between deaf with a little 'd' and Deaf with a big 'D.' they'll be quick to correct yuh knowledge.


that being said, would much rather be deaf than blind: Chemda made a good argument, sign language is awesomely clandestine as well as beautifully functional, and i would not like to lose my ability to read faces or use my tools.

I was there at the show in the second row near Keith. When John Leguizamo picked on Keith, his response about not wanting to make eye contact got the biggest laugh of the night up to that point. I was in the corner of the row trying to blend into the black curtains instead of in the light where I could be picked on. Keith handled himself way better than I ever could have!

I retold that moment to everyone who asked me about the show because it was one of the funniest parts. I think it goes to show how funny Keith is even when put on the spot/not even the one performing on stage.

Lauren also got called out by John Leguizamo for having a "battle cry" for a laugh! "Ha-HUUHHH! To war!"
