I'm a semi-professional singer, and karaoke stresses me out more than real performances. I sing all the time, but right before karaoke I can never think of a good song and usually I just get cold feet and watch everyone else. For me this comes from the audience - friends or coworkers who usually don't hear me sing. I feel like I have to impress them for them to take me seriously as a singer.
Which is silly because in all my times doing it everyone has been wasted and not really paying attention. Anyway I don't hog the stage, and I try to pick a song that has mass singing along appeal *and* shows off my voice, it's possible. I've never done live band karaoke, sounds pretty rock and roll. |
