I enjoyed Ali and this episode.

Her relationship dynamic is interesting and not completely out of the ordinary for both straight and gay couples.

I don't agree with the notion that you always need someone with a specifically "male" energy + someone with a "female" energy. There are ebbs and flows to every relationship and people can take on different roles, regardless of gender or how a person presents themselves.
