We went to Dyker Heights to see the Xmas lights last week. My girlfriend had a friend visiting from India with us. She said it was noticeable in NY how rare it is to see heavy people with all of the walking that you have to do.

Not Starbucks, but I used to live next to a 7-11, and if you brought your own cup, it was a 'refill' instead of a regular coffee, so it was cheaper. I did that all the time back then.

I worked at Gregorys Coffee and at Plowshares coffee, both in Manhattan, and they prefered people bring their own travel mugs. I honestly had no problem rinsing out a travel mug. Mind you, I did say 'rinse' not like thorough wash with soap. And yeah at least one customer complained their mug wasn't filled up but got over it quick. But even in Time Square (literally hell on earth to work at) nobody really made a fuss about it.
