The Free Games Thread
Thought I'd start a thread for all the free browser embedded or downloadable games out there for when you're bored or should be working. Post your own too.
Here's some start off with: Samorost 1 and Samorost 2 are point and click adventure games that are just plain wonderful. I mean LOOK at them. PongOut Play Pong and Breakout at the same time with the mouse and try not to have a stroke. The Room escape games These start with you waking up in a room and you have to escape using point and click interface and clues. Start with Crimson Room. Shift 2 2D puzzle/platform game where you shift the level so the ceiling becomes the floor and the floor becomes the ceiling. Has a cheeky sense of humour. Rom Check Fail The best description I've heard of this is “Wario Ware performed by the Reduced Shakespeare Company”. It uses the verbs of 80s videogames and mashes them up into mini-games, changing every few seconds. Asteroids ship fighting Space Invaders in a Bubble Bobble level, or Zelda versus Arkanoid bricks, or Pacman being chased by the Gauntlet Ghosts, it must be seen Kriegspiel Meaty! We're talking cerebral turn based strategy with amazing art direction. Gravitation Described by it's creator as “a video game about mania, melancholia, and the creative process.”. It's certainly very interesting. Off Road Velociraptor Safari You run over feathered raptors in a jeep, in slow motion. Video here. Hoshi-Saga An odd one. It's a series of very small mini-games were you have to find the star. There's something soothing about it. Cursor *10 From the same guy as Horshi-Saga, Cursor *10 is a seemingly simple game where you have to click on stair cases to ascend, boxes and pyramids to reveal things. The twist is that you can't make it through with one cursor, you need ten. Get as fr you you can with one then it resets and your old cursor will be a 'ghost' making the same moves you did. It's one player co-op!

Peggle
Peggle from PopCap Games rocks!
It requires a small plugin. You can play online for free, but the $20 version for download is well worth it. http://www.popcap.com/games/free/peggle PopCap has a bunch of other online games on their site beyond Peggle. |

Room Escape games are my FAVORITE!
If you find any not-so-common ones, I'd be very grateful. I've beaten what seems like all of them... more than once. http://www.gamershood.com/list.php?id=17&p=1 < -- beaten all those. |

Copy pastaing my post from an old thread. Anyone with an nVidia graphics card should go here where they can get four free games. Included are Portal: First Slice (generous demo of the game Keith was talking about), Half-Life 2 Deathmatch (multiplayer shooter with the lovely gravity gun), Half Life: Lost Coast (short but fun level that shows off some nice HDR, very pretty) and Peggle Extreme (super addictive puzzle game). Click the names for trailers/footage of the game. |

Quake Live is taking sign ups for the beta. It'll be like Quake III, only free and launch from your browser.
