I voted before I saw the part about being gay... and I'm not gay. Sorry, Newsy and Aldo. I guess that "GAYS ONLY" in all caps to start the poll question wasn't obvious enough for me. So you can take off one "yes" vote to maintain the poll's scientific accuracy.

I was beat about the head several times, but most of it was just spankings. Ironicly, I was always punished because of what other kids did and blamed on me, not anything I ever actually did. And now I do bad things like steal and don't get caught, I guess I was getting punished preemptively for what I do now.

I'm totally gay and I never got hit for discipline as a kid, my mom was a fan of just yelling a lot.

Yeah, yeah. I got spankings. I was a good kid, but every now and then I'd be a little selfish or disrespectful. One time I was choked, but I was 14.

I voted no for the same reasons as aldo - I only remember getting spanked a very few times, and they were always single slaps to the arse / back-of-legs to make sure my parents had my full attention. Never involved belts/slippers or anything crazy like that.

I was spanked a few times and cuffed in the head a few times but nothing more than that. I agree with what Keith said, if my parents didn't I would have walked all over them.

I was a mix of both.. dad would hit, mom would yell.. eventually they gave up.

I've blocked most of it.. but the worst I remember was being stabbed with a fork a couple times.. for lying..

Just listened to the episode, why's everyone getting so defensive about how they were spanked and thier feelings about that? You're tainting the scientific accuracy of the poll. It's a simple question with a yes or no answer.

That being said, I would put it down to the lack of father figure, more so than the spankings that caused me to be gay.
