Nothing personal. I mean I would care, of course, but the world at large wouldn't.

I know only my friends and family would care if I died. At least most of them. I sure don't expect people to be leaving flowers and cards on my doorstep.

Just because we've seen this young guy's image on movies, TV screens, magazines, etc., why should we care more?

We shouldn't!
Because people feel connected to him through the movies he made. Who really knows why death makes us sad. It's weird when you think about it. If you didn't really know the person, why does it matter? I think it just makes us think about mortality in general. And people feel sad for his little daughter too I suppose.

Geez! I have young children too. Again, no one would give a shit if I died. Who would be worrying about my children?

Pick up your newspaper. I'm sure someone near you died yesterday. Car accident or some other freaky factory accident as examples? Do you look to see if this person has children? Do you care?

Stop feeling connected to idiots you see on a movie screen. You'll be better for it.

Um, yes I do care. I would be sad to hear that you died and left little children without a father. Seriously.

But honestly, I wasn't that bothered that HL died. I think it is sad that he seems to have taken his own life and his family have to deal with that now, but I didn't cry about it.

we care because if rich, talented, pretty, famous people can die young, wtf kind of a chance do the rest of us have...

we need to know his mistake so we can avoid it. we love a cautionary tale.

I think Brian is confusing "talking about shit" with "caring about shit." Just have a fucking conversation and stop worrying about the philosophical ramifications of celebrity news.

Perhaps I am for some. I doubt this is true for all.
