Favorite Sitcoms

OK, I admit this was inspired by the "Favourite Comedians" thread, but since I went out of my way to American-ize the spelling, I claim that it has validity.

I think for the most part, the stuff that airs on network TV is watered down tripe, designed to not offend the greatest number of people and to try and sneak up to 100 episodes so they can start raking in the syndication cash. Additionally, I have noticed that very very few shows have any lasting content. Shows I loved as a youth (Happy Days and MASH for example) are almost unwatchable at this point (Oddly enough, Laverne & Shirley... still hilarious).

AS I am curious as to what others think, I'm only going to mention one show that I think is "great"... The Simpsons. There are others I believe fall into this catagory, but it'd be a very boring thread if I went and named them all.

Your thoughts....?

i don't think weeds would be considered a sitcom but it is an excellent show nonetheless.

seinfeld is the best sitcom, possibly the best tv show ever. curb your enthusiasm is good. i'm also starting to enjoy how i met your mother and 2 and a half men.

The American version of "The Office" was offputting to me at first, but I find if you dont try to compare it to the original, since they wrote different material for the U.S. anyways, it stands pretty well on its own.

The first few shows of the American Office weren't very good, as they pretty much tried to copy the british version word for word, except changing british slang and words. Now that the american version has original episodes, they are much much better. I'm starting to like it more than the british version...but only by a little.

So.. so true.

I'm still a fan of Seinfeld. I also like That 70's Show, The Drew Carey Show, Scrubs and Arrested Development.
