I wrote 8 paragraphs and have edited it because it was just too damn long, (and still didn't have all the info).
Long story short: my best friend has this new girlfriend. She's always with him. Even when I'm like, "let's get a beer and catch up" and he says great, (that he can't wait to have some time away from this chick...the dude shows up at the bar...with this chick!
She mistakes arguing for intelligence. Hates any comment that doesn't follow strict feminist law. Like, I made the mistake of saying "Male sexuality is different than female sexuality." She fucking lost it. My friend had to walk away as his girl preceded to just say "No" to everything I said.
She smokes all the pot. Never buys a drink. Is a contrarian who argues everything. She's a hot, stuck up, hippie chick. I'm not fucking her. I want nothing to do with her.
I live in a small mtn town. I keep running into friend at store etc He's like, "Hey give a call. We should hang." How do I explain that his new girlfriend is a pain in the ass? Like, if she wasn't around 24/7 it wouldn't be a big deal. Do I just wait for someone else to mention this or what?

I think Brolo made it sound like he was the asshole when it came to splitting the check. He never was. He always more than paid his share.

When you're with strangers I understand getting a separate check, whether you're the heavy orderer or not, but to get a separate check while you're with friends and you all arrive and leave at the same time: that's weird.

Weird for you, maybe, but I think your whole system is strange.

The experience is about the customer, not the waiter. Obviously people should be nice to each other. If the restaurant has a good system in place for taking orders, who has an easier time separating money owed? Who has access to payment machines? The restaurant. I'm not going to spend extra time figuring out who I owe money to or who owes me money or how many times I'm over-paying. Keep in mind I normally eat and drink less than most of my friends.

There is absolutely no excuse for not being quick when it comes to separating cheques. How come we always get the separated bills within 5-10 minutes here? Modern technology allows waiters to be quicker.

Everyone's relatively cordial, from my experience. Waiters assume everyone wants separate cheques, and ask if you're in a couple. Food usually comes at the same time for the whole group.

It's up to the establishment to change practices if they have a shitty system in place to take orders. We're already tipping at least 15% on everything, and I have no problem with it.
