I get the impression that Loyiso just didn't understand your vibe and humour on the show and I don't think it was a language barrier. Pity, I was all excited to have a fellow Southern African on the show.

Some interestingly chilled views on South Africa. Freedom of speech? People can get fined heavily for any hate speech (don't get me wrong, that's good... but they're choosy about who gets fined forwhat and it's not really free speech when you see the kind of nonsense most Youtube commenters get away with) and a bill was passed to silence the media about government corruption and information they consider "sensitive". There's also the handful of students destroying everything in sight at universities and causing millions in damage, but they want free education after these places have to rebuild. Countries that offer "free" education tax the heck out their citizens, not just have a handful paying like in SA.

I try not to use the word anymore as I try not to say words that can hurt people. The thing is growing up in Queens in the 80's I heard the word retard a lot. Sometimes ill use it because something is just retarded and I have no other words for it. Im not going to say it to a you know a special needs person.

i say a lot of off color things, but i try to read the room and never use it with strangers. you never know who has a special needs person in their life and that particular bone, when struck, can really kill it with someone.

I didn't mean to sound so down about S.Africa, but it's really just going through an immense amount of shit right now and thought that may have been an interesting topic for discussion.

Otherwise, the rainbow nation does of course has its wonderful moments... and beautiful spots - particularly Cape Town in all it's shiny, touristy glory.

You did the right thing. We need our South African fact checker, and it's appreciated.
