I've been working in bars and restaurants my whole life and almost every time I've tried to cut someone off (which is rare), my boss has tried to talk me out of it. It's a super tricky thing to do if a manager isn't going to back you up, so usually I'll just start ignoring the drunk person until they seem more normal. If they're that drunk that I'm uncomfortable serving them, they're not going to remember that they got shitty service.
I think this bartender is being made an example of, unfortunately, and I hope it doesn't ruin her life. Keith is right. Bartenders see some crazy shit and they're no more responsible for a drunk person's actions than the manufacturer of the gun or knife he used to kill those people.

oh! my own husband rudely cut me off while i was at one of his shows. like, he came up to me while i was talking to someone and grabbed my drink from my hand. so rude. he apologized later. i truly do not enjoy being in the room when he’s in boss man mode. i get ZERO special treatment.

I usually am pretty good about cutting myself off in time because my inner control freak jumps out and needs to make sure I can get myself home somehow.
Haven't puked from alcohol in a few years, you learn your limits when you are young hopefully but mistakes happen. I still can't drink Sangria because I puked my brains out from that as a teenager. |
