I have chronic kidney stones (I passed four just last week) - the pain and the frequent peeing sounds very familiar, and certain types of stones won't show up in x-rays. It's a shame they're just dismissing you instead of doing an ultrasound or something more definitive.
If your insurance allows you directly go to specialists, you might try an appointment with a urologist who at least can narrow it down for you. Edit: I just remembered Keith's fake insurance. Sorry man, I'm sure this post will just frustrate you. I promise I'm trying to help. |

Can you be more specific with where the pain is perceived? We are seeing a lot of myocardial issues that have weird rib area refered pain but though it is a trend of note it is still a fairly low rate.
From what has been described I'd agree it is most likely Kidney related. This could be many things however. Blood clot, nephron blockage, stone, AKD, flair up of CKD, etc. What you need to rule these out are a DIRECT GFR study and a ultrasound. If you choose not to go to the nephrologist you may want to look into discontinuing opioids, cannibinoids, NSAIDs and look at getting some corticosteroids. Prednisone would be easiest and best for this application. Just take as directed and properly discontinue when the time comes. Without further more specific info this is all I can say at this time. I am not your doctor and this is not medical advice just info for consideration. Almost for sure not sciatica. That does not refer pain where described. Also, do not go to a chiropractor, they are not doctors and are far more likely to do harm than good. Any update on Chemda's treatment choices? |

My guess is that Keith is pregnant, so mazel tov! Or as the cool Jews say, maz!
However, if that is not in God's plans, here are my other guesses: Costochondritis / Pleuritis - costochondritis is an infection of the chest wall can often lead to inflammation and pain in the affected area. Types of chest wall infections include: Pleurisy — infection of the thin membranes (pleura) of the chest wall. Costochondritis — inflammation of the cartilage that connects the upper ribs to the sternum. Intercostal neuralgia - caused by irritation, inflammation, or compression of your intercostal nerves, which are just below your ribs. A number of things can cause this, including: trauma to your chest. viral infections, such as shingles. Aside from pregnancy, none of these would necessarily show up on tests. I know shingles was suggested, so a bit about that. Shingles is caused by the same virus that causes Chicken Pox and it stays in your system forever. When your immune system is low, this virus can cause a painful rash or inflammation in other areas. Typically this is seen in those over 60 however. So, what do you do? Time takes time and you will either have a happy baby or the inflammation will resolve on its own. There is a procedure called an Intercostal Nerve Block if you want to read about that. One more thing. Whenever you take pain medications that contain an opioid such as percocet, norco, oxycodone, etc. remember that these cause constipation and should be taken with a stool softener like Dulcolax (Bisacodyl) which can also be purchased as a suppository if you are feeling frisky. See ya on chat old man. Last edited by Mark Sandiego; 10-27-2022 at 04:09 PM. |
