I listened to Neal Brennan’s mental pod episode and he said he learned too much on DMT.

I know this isn't necessarily THE POINT of this episode, but I've been having these feelings for a while, and the topic came up again so here we are:

I have an abusive dad who I am avoiding at all costs. And it is costing me a lot of relationships. I hate to generalize but, “we” are so practiced at doing mental gymnastics to excuse/explain away abusive behavior, because acknowledging it threatens our comfort and relationships. Keith, you sharing your journey around your dad and NOT engaging in these mental gymnastics has been the most validating for me. Thank you.

(I take notes when I listen to podcasts so I have paragraphs in response to this episode, but I went with sharing that supportive sentiment instead of targeting Craig for all the ummmm CURIOUS views he expressed around Keith and Keith's dad and "hate" and Pat Dixon and Beyonce)

And it seems Craig came around. He just needed to think of a name HE hated, as if this is such a tough concept to understand.

explaining why he's not crying at a funeral/viewing....

idk, as someone who also just "hosted" a funeral, and has had to do this before, i feel like i never cry at the funerals that i'm the one organizing, because you're a host, in a sense. you're greeting people and chatting with people, and accepting the condolences. It's just not cry-time, right?
