I'm getting Keith levels of enraged hearing you talk about that kid and his parents who got locked up.
You don't have the whole story. The kid didn't find the gun. His parents bought it for him. They took him to a shooting range to use it. He was allowed to hold onto it and secure it himself. After he got caught drawing those things and searching for them on the internet by the school, there's a text from the mother that told him to be more careful and not get caught. The day of the shooting she texted him, no, don't do it. That bitch and her husband need to be locked up. This was complete disregard and negligence to a criminal degree. The kid was crying for help but his mother was more interested in her horses. Fuck them. |

To Chemda's point about the parents getting charged for their children's guns:
I left the gutter punk life for a legal career- this is attorneys getting creative and rebellious. No one in DC will change the laws. Politicians have been bought out and gun manufacturers are immune. When that parent was convicted, a legal precedent was set in that jurisdiction. It will be appealed, probably to the Supreme Court, but in the meantime lawyers can use it as precedent to charge other parents. It's people that have a little bit of power trying to make a difference when they're constantly being shut down by politicians. Maybe it will make adults think twice about having accessible weapons around their children, maybe not. But it's a start and I like it.
