New Music Suggestions

Always keen to hear some new bands so drop a few names and links to their sites so we can all check them out.

If you only think of AC/DC and INXS when you think of Australian music - try these bands out;

Cog: An Australian 3 piece band with a drummer who is up there with Danny Carey from Tool (Spooky should like it then). If you like Tool (fairly heavy music, odd timing, avg song is 6 mins, vocals aren't ripping off Tool tho) or even if you don't, check them out. I've never listened to any other album as much as I have theirs.

Karnivool: 5 piece from Perth, Western Australia. You could say the same thing of these guys as I did for Cog - but they sound very different. Another CD that hasn't left my player for over a year.

Man, you guys had some fantastic homegrown talent when i lived in Perth. Bands like Said Girl, PC Thug, Miles Away to mention a few...

I'm always a sucker to mention my favourite band whenever i can - Killswitch Engage.
That band is so awesome i have a design tattooed on my wrist in dedication to them.

Cog has an awesome website...like the player built in...The music rocks, Guitar, bass, and drums driving hard..what's not to like...

Karnivool is pretty damned good too definitely worth the listen...

I can't think of a better way to judge a band than listening to one minute of one song. I can't think why I even bother listening to a whole song anymore.

Sweet Jesus I don't even work for Warner Music and all I can talk about is Gnarls Barkley. I adore Cee-Lo and add Dangermouse and it's earmagic.

They have songs on thier MySpace and I plan on buying the CD which says alot because the last CD I bought was Fiona Apple "Extraordinary Machine". I even considering Coachella because of them...and Madonna but whatever.

http://www.thebutterflyeffect.com.au/ - Awesome hard rock band from Brisbane, Queensland. I have seen them live numerous times and they never fail to put on a killer show.

http://www.sleightmusic.com/ - A local Newcastle band that have finally got a break. My old band played a few time with them throughout Newcastle but while we unfortunately disbanded to get jobs and pay bills, these guys stuck with it and are at last getting their pay off.
