Still crawling through RE5 trying to get every last achievement.
ALSO working through Dreamfall. Pretty proud to say that I figured out that cave puzzle without looking it up online haha. But some of the other ones so far are a little retarded. Still kicks ass though. I'm only at the point where I get to play as April the second time. Saw a few people mentioning Civ Rev... I've got it, but never played it online. I can totally see most people doing early-game rushes. Am right here? |

I tried out the demo for Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. tonight. Damn, that game was fucking fun. Took me a while to get the hang of the controls, but once I did, I played through the demo level 3 times.

I'm giving Far Cry 2 a shot.
It's a pretty cool open world shooter, but I spend most of my time driving from place to place and not shooting anything. Also, after playing COD games the controls for FC2 feel pretty stiff. The scenery is cool and I like that you can start almost everything on fire. I open most of my gunfights with a Molotov and let the fire spread while I run and gun. |

No I just don't FPS make for good open world style games, I feel they are more suited to a more linear development that allows for use of impressive set pieces and more varied settings.

That's not what you just said. You said you kept getting side-tracked. If that happens in an open world FPS, it would happen in any open-world game. So it has nothing to do with being an FPS at all.
I don't see a reason why an open-world FPS wouldn't work, especially given how stale the linear shooter genre is. |

So only WoW, GTA, and Everquest can use the open world concept in their games? Obviously... Op Flashpoint was garbage... Fallout 3 had no redeemable charm... and the original Far Cry was a FAR CRY from a good game... that about right? |

And like I said, it takes forever to get from mission to mission which would be fun if the combat along the way was engaging. In this case, there's only one type of enemy that you'll run into and it becomes more of a nuisance than anything else. I just want to skip it all to get to the next fun part. BWAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAA! HAHAHAHAH! (breathe...) BWAHAHA!
