Poll question - back when I was a kid, the local grocer would toss day-of expired baked goods, and they'd be sitting in the dumpster fully packaged. We were jobless youth & there's a bunch of packaged cookies just sitting in the bin. A gift from the universe.

Taking a second to send my support vibes towards Keith, and towards anyone in active addiction or any stages of recovery. Take these moments as your sign.

I'm over 11 years now booze & tobacco free. I'm over 5 years benzo-free, and about 2 years CBD/THC free. I'm basically raw-doggin' life at this point (the only caffeine I get is the occasional green tea, not a huge fan of sugar either). The TL;DR story for me is I was using those substances both legitimately (CBD/benzo were Rx) AND abusively to cope with various mental & physical health problems, and on top of the already diagnosed stuff, what turned out to be undiagnosed autism. Now that I'm off everything and know new coping strategies/lifestyle changes that target each issue, things have improved. Are they perfect? Absolutely not. But man, the alternative was a slow death. I don’t want to die anymore. It’s nice not to constantly be in that headspace anymore.

What sucks about most programs is they're this umbrella "one-size-fits-most" that don't meet people where they are. It's really interesting how a business model of SMART goals has been turned into a way to help people where they are in whatever stage of recovery. Plus, no higher power, it's on the person. My mantra has been if you don't recover for yourself and only yourself, you will never fully recover. That's why I found higher power versions useless for me, as I'm not the reason. I’m worth it, I am worthy of a sober life. So Keith, I’m hopeful for you. You got this bro. Thanks for the heads up about how often shows might be now. Prioritize you & this new journey. Can't wait for stories when they show up.

Bad story about cars? Recently mine broke down mid drive, and I had to get it towed to the shop. The issue? What I thought a repaired coolant issue, nah they missed stuff. Over 1000 dollars later... UGH. And yes, it was raining, and I had some groceries.

I can't be certain I've never eaten food from the garbage as an adult, but I don't remember doing that.
