I actually just watched The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo about a week ago and I really loved it. It's been a while since I've seen a mystery as good as this one. (Sidenote: Anyone have some good mystery movie suggestions?) Sadly I didn't think the sequel, The Girl Who Played With Fire, quite lived up to the original. It was still pretty good but there just seemed to be something missing. I'm curious what I'll think of the third movie once I get a chance to see it.

ive had all 3 for awhile now. i LOVE the new trailer for the american remake with thug bond. i love the trailer itself - i like the frenetic pacing of it, but no one i know likes it. oh well, it finally got me off my butt to watch the first movie. halfway thru it now, had to break for work, intend to finish it tommorrow.
started listening to the nerdist podcast, they covered black dynamite and reminded me to rewatch it, lol. |

How about extra points to those who have seen the various Blaxploitation movies it references? Like Dolomite, Willie Dynamite, etc.
I watched Son of Ranbow. I loved it. It's so cute, adorable, and touching. I didn't have a single problem with the movie. Last edited by Blonde_Amazon; 06-18-2011 at 11:14 AM. |

Girl With the Dragon Tattoo: finally knocked it off the queue. 4/5, pretty dece, but I definitely agree with the slowness. Spoiler: the biggest plot hole was woman being out of the kitchen for 2.5 hours. Also, chick's too SG for me; less piercings plz.
Devil's Backbone: 3.5/5 because of the ghost stuff. I didn't even know Spain had a civil war, I guess they got the spotlight taken away by WW2. debating whether or not to watch Son of Rambow. |

Just watched the Devil's Backbone yesterday, and while I was really excited to watch it after seeing that it was by Guillermo Del Toro, who I think is pretty rad, I thought the movie just kind of missed something...
It was entertaining enough but I really don't know, it just lacks something, maybe it could use a bit more character development for some of the adults in the movie because I didn't feel much attachment to many of those characters...and it sort of felt like the movie almost all boils down to the last 20-30 minutes or so... Anyway I liked it, just not a whole lot. 3/5 or so, seems like something he should come back and finish/redo.

How exactly should we set up the election of new pickers?
One suggestion was to allow the three members who watched the most films for the week be the pickers for next week, and I don't suppose that's a bad idea, unless more than 3 people have seen an equal amount of films and if one of us just happens to always have the time to watch more movies, should he/she be allowed to pick every week? (I'm not saying yes or no, that's a serious question to you guys) Another option would be to keep the election system of the old format, current pickers when their turn is up pick new pickers, under the same basic guidelines that the people chosen must have participated. Should we allow re-elections? We could also just rotate weekly, like...these 3 people week a, these 3 week b, these 3 week c, and the weeks just keep rotating. The choices are yours, and yours alone! |
